The planet Tal’Jor is a world of stark division and war: the advanced, technocratic Upper Cities and the spiritually adept Outlanders of the desolate lowlands. Stuck in the middle are the Contractors: nomadic mechanics and traders who roam the barren expanse in massive, militarized convoys. She is whisked away to the Astral Realm where she is forced into a battle with The Radical, and only with help is she able to escape and get an idea of the troubles ahead. Plagued by vivid, prophetic dreams and struggling to reconcile her identity as a mech pilot with her terrifying new spiritual connection, Ava embarks on a journey of self-discovery-forced to confront the violent, political, and personal dangers that surround her.
